SRINAGAR, Nov 19: Chairperson of the Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board and Minister of State, Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi today attended a special event organized on the release of the 21st installment of the PM-KISAN scheme by PM Narendra Modi.
Dr Andrabi attended the function as the chief guest.
The programme was organised by ICAR-Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture (CITH) and Leafy-Greens, bringing together beneficiaries of PM-KISAN and experts from the horticulture sector.
To mark the occasion, Dr Andrabi planted saplings, symbolising the government’s focus on horticultural development.
She also interacted with farmers and ICAR-CITH scientists, listening to their success stories and feedback on various Government schemes supporting horticultural investment, cultivation and agri-business growth.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Andrabi said, “During the past decade, Indian agriculture has witnessed a renewed boost and technological revolution under the leadership of PM Modi. This developmental era has strengthened and empowered the farming community across the country.”
Participants later watched the live screening of the release of the 21st PM-KISAN installment.
Dr Andrabi noted that Rs 18,000 crore was transferred to nine crore farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), calling it the world’s largest DBT initiative.
“The Prime Minister has ensured transparency and empowerment for farmers through this historic scheme. This is the power of Modi’s India,” she added.
She expressed gratitude to the organizers, ICAR-CITH and Leafy-Greens for hosting a meaningful event connecting farmers with experts.
Experts Dr Geetika Malik, Dr O C Sharma and Dr Javed also participated and were appreciated by Dr Andrabi for their contributions to horticultural research and innovation.
