UDHAMPUR, Nov 22: Delhi Public School (DPS) organized inter-school drawing competition ‘Virtuosity—The Art and Craft Fest’ under the banner of Jammu Sahodaya Complex Jammu Chapter here today.
Fifteen schools from in and around Jammu participated in the competition.
Dr Yogeshwar Gupta President Udhampur Municipal Corporation was the chief guest whereas Surinder Singh Khalsa Vice President Udhampur Municipal Corporation and Dr JC Gupta Pro Vice-Chairman DPS Udhampur were the guests of honour.
Jagdish Singh Dhami President Jammu Sahodaya Complex and Principal Heritage School and Nirmal Mahana Secretary Jammu Sahodaya and Principal DPS Kathua presided over the function.
Dr Kusum, Rohini Aima Principal Jammu Sanskriti, Dr Vishesh Kour Principal Doon International School, Suchita Gupta Director Academics DPS Udhampur and Vivek Gupta MD DPS Udhampur were the special invitees.
Pro Vice-Chairman Dr JC Gupta declared the competition open with the lightning of the traditional ceremonial lamp.
Dr Kunal Anand while speaking on the occasion said that art reflects civilizations. He said each society has expressed their history, its feelings, its fears and its tradition through art. He added that art and painting techniques can be taught through some instructions but the flair for the same is natural.
The competition was divided into 3 age groups—Classes 6th to 8th (Group-1st), Classes 9th and 10th (Group-2nd) and Classes 11th and 12th (Group-3rd).
Dr Yogeshwar Gupta, President Udhampur Municipal Corporation and Surinder Singh Khalsa Vice President Udhampur Municipal Corporation along with Dr JC Gupta Pro Vice-Chairman DPS Udhampur distributed the prizes among the winners.
In Group-1st, Priyanka Singh of Jammu Sanskriti, Anshika of APS Akhnoor and Kinjal Rajput of DPS Udhampur bagged first, second and third prizes respectively. The consolation prize was given to Ayushi Behra of APS Nagrota.
In group-2nd, Bhavishya of APS Akhnoor, Anchal of APS Nagrota and Sushant of Jammu Sanskriti clinched first, second and third prizes respectively. The consolation prize was awarded to Divyansh Gupta of GD Goenka.
In Group-3rd, Arman Lutha of GD Goenka, Sanjana Sharma of APS Akhnoor and Khushi Kumar of Heritage School secured first, second and third prizes respectively. The consolation prize was given to Shruti Sharma of APS Nagrota.
