JAMMU, Nov 20: Minister for Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs, Chering Dorjay, stressed upon the common masses particularly youth to understand the concept of production and marketing linkages which bring economic transformation and are considered as fruitful investments to acquire decent means of livelihood in their own vicinity.
The Minister was speaking at valedictory function organized by the Cooperative Department at Cooperative Office Complex Bantalab to mark conclusion of 64th Cooperative Week.
On the occasion, the Minister released a Newsletter titled “Our Cooperatives- Our strength” prepared by the department. The publication contains valuable information, future proposals, suggestions and many more for implementation of various schemes by Cooperative Department.
The Minister said that the publication would serve as a perfect guide for the prospective entrepreneurs in the field of cooperatives.
Dorjay said that during the weeklong celebration, various discussion sessions on different cooperative societies related topics have been held at different parts of the State. He said cooperative movement is gaining momentum, adding that the movement also plays major role in overall development of the people in the State.
Highlighting the achievements of the department, Minister asked for working out future strategies of growth based plans on cooperative development in each sector.
The Minister further said that cooperative movement has great essence in rural upliftment and removal of middleman-ship, exploitation as well as price control of essential commodities were also under control.
Vice Chairman JAKFED Munish Sharma, Secretary Cooperative Department, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Chairman J&K Cooperative Union, besides officers of Cooperative School, Housing Corporation and other senior officials of Cooperative department were also present.
