Don’t leave headquarters without permission: Lal Singh to medicos

JAMMU, Apr 3: Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings, Ch Lal Singh today directed all the specialist doctors to remain present at their headquarters and not leave the station without prior permission from the higher authorities so that their services are utilised during emergency cases.
The Minister said this while interacting with the Medicos and Paramedics after inspecting the healthcare and infrastructure facilities in District Hospital Samba and Accidental Hospital, Vijaypur, here last evening.
Ch Lal Singh directed the hospital functionaries to depute atleast 20 staff members including medicos and paramedical for night duty so that the ailing people do not face any inconvenience. He directed them to provide best possible healthcare facilities to the ailing people. He said Government is on a comprehensive plan to upgrade healthcare facilities in far-off areas of the State and bring them at par with the city hospitals. He said that any negligence on part of the officials would be viewed seriously.
The Minister asked the medicos to gear up their efforts in improving Out Patient Department (OPD) and Indoor Patient Department (IPD) facilities in their respective hospitals including bedding and cleanliness.
Ch Lal Singh also discussed important issues like improvement in infrastructure, fund allocation, expenditure and work done status under various projects. He directed to expedite pace of work while maintaining quality standards as per specifications so that the projects are completed within the stipulated time.
The Minister said that health infrastructure being developed will be an asset for the State and will help cater to the healthcare needs of people. He called for better coordination among the executing agencies and the concerned departments for improved results on ground.
He said that focus is being laid to strengthen the existing health institutions including laboratories and emergency wards particularly in far-off areas to ensure best possible healthcare facilities.
Responding to the local demands, the Minister informed that CT Scan facility in the District Hospital Samba will be available by April 17 so that the people could avoid their admissions in Jammu city hospitals for treatment.
Regarding filling up of promotion quota posts of Non-Gazetted employees, the Minister directed for convening of DPC so that the shortfall in medical and paramedical staff is addressed.
The Minister asked the officers to purchase the required equipments in the hospitals, dispensaries by completing tendering formalities. He also took stock of the status of drug supply to the hospitals.
