JAMMU, July 28: Prominent Dogri writer and Sahitya Akademy awardee, Joginder Chhatrapal passed away here today after a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife and a son. According to the family members, the cremation shall take place tomorrow at Shakti Nagar Cremation Ground at 11 a.m.
A prolific short story writer in Dogri and Hindi language, Joginder Chhatrapal was Sahitya Akademy awardee and receipt of a number of other prestigious State as well as national level awards in the field of literature.
Chhatrapal also worked as new reader at Radio Kashmir Jammu and was popularly known as Devkinandan Pandey of Dogri news. He remained president of Dogri Sanstha Jammu and worked a lot for further promotion of Dogri language.
He was also closely associated with the welfare of physically challenged people and was general secretary of Home for Handicapped.
Death of Joginder Chhatrapal has been widely condoled by people from all walks of life, particularly from the literary world.
