Dogri Sanstha put-on-hold agitation on DyCM’s assurance

JAMMU, Nov 5: On the assurance by Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh, Dogri Sanstha has put-on-hold their agitation for 10 days.
Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today assured Dogri Sanstha that the demand of Dogri writers to get due representation in the newly constituted Central Committee of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) will be met soon. He conveyed that the process may require some time and hence the Dogri writers may postpone their agitation for some days.
It may be mentioned that a deputation of Dogri Sanstha had met the DyCM few days back to express their resentment against this discrimination meted to Dogri by not giving any representation to Dogri in the Central Committee of JKAACL.
Keeping in view the assurance given by the DyCM, the working committee of Dogri Sanstha today decided to put-on-hold the agitation for 10 days to provide sufficient time to Government to fulfill its assurance.
DyCM while conveying the above assurance also said that he has taken up the matter with the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who is also the President of JKAACL.
However, it was decided in the meeting of working committee that the Sanstha will continue to approach various social, cultural and political organizations to muster support for the rightful cause of Dogri and the Dogras.
The WC also took exception to the statement of the Secretary of JKAACL that a section of Dogri writers is feeling resentment for Dogri by not getting due representation in the Central Committee. This is a misleading statement and totally incorrect, the WC members said.
The working committee demanded that the original order nominating the Central Committee be modified to incorporate Dogri writers to give due representation to the second largest spoken language of the State recognized as one of the national languages of country.
