JAMMU, Dec 28: Dogri Sanstha Jammu today released Inderjeet Kesar’s Dogri novel “Dohri” at a simple yet impressive event held at the Writers’ Club, K L Saigal Hall, Jammu.
The event was attended by Prof R D Sharma, former Vice Chancellor of Jammu University, as the Chief Guest, while Retired Maj Gen S K Sharma was the Special Guest. Prof Lalit Magotra, President of Dogri Sanstha Jammu, presided over the function.
In his address, Prof R D Sharma appreciated the efforts of Dogri Sanstha in promoting the Dogri language and regional culture since its establishment in 1944.
He stressed the importance of preserving the mother tongue and cultural heritage, especially as languages like Dogri face growing challenges globally.
He also congratulated Inderjeet Kesar for his significant contributions to Dogri literature and welcomed his latest novel.
Retired Maj Gen S K Sharma spoke about the sweetness of the Dogri language and the need for dedicated individuals like Inderjeet Kesar to preserve and promote it.
He encouraged others to follow Kesar’s example and contribute to the development of Dogri literature.
Prof Lalit Magotra expressed gratitude to the author, highlighting Kesar’s dedication to enriching Dogri literature through novels, poetry, travelogues, essays, and children’s literature.
Author Inderjeet Kesar shared insights into his literary journey with the audience. A detailed paper on the novel was presented by Ashok Khajuria.
The program was conducted by Promila Manhas and Rajeshwar Singh ‘Raju’, General Secretary of Dogri Sanstha Jammu, who also delivered the vote of thanks.
The event was well-attended by writers, literature enthusiasts, and the author’s family members.
