JAMMU, Aug 21: Dogri Sanstha Jammu organized a grand literary function today at the Writer’s Club, K L Saigal Hall, where four significant books authored by eminent writer and poet Dr Nirmal Vinod were released.
The books unveiled included: Khara Fakiri Thath (a collection of cultural writings), Samein De Khande Par (a poetry collection), Kaniyan Sunne Diyan (a poetry collection) and Rang Rangeela Bharat Desh (a collection of songs).
The function was graced by Prof R D Sharma, former Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, as the chief guest, while Prof Lalit Magotra, president, Dogri Sanstha Jammu, presided over the event. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Prof Veena Gupta, vice-president of Dogri Sanstha Jammu, who also highlighted the literary journey of Dr Nirmal Vinod.
Detailed critical papers on the released books were presented by distinguished scholars and writers including Dr Jitendra Udhampuri, Dr Bansi Lal Sharma, Narendra Bhasin, Inderjeet Kesar and Dr Rattan Basotra. In their presentations, they underlined the literary significance of Dr Vinod’s works, describing his writings as a vivid expression of life’s experiences and social realities.
Addressing the gathering, Prof R D Sharma said that Dr Nirmal Vinod’s multi-faceted talent shines through these books. Khara Fakiri Thath, he said, showcases the author’s cultural insights and social vision, while Samein De Khande Par and Kaniyan Sunne Diyan portray diverse dimensions of life through impactful poetry. Rang Rangeela Bharat Desh, on the other hand, is a celebration of India’s cultural diversity and unity through songs.
Prof Lalit Magotra noted that the works of Dr Nirmal Vinod not only enrich Dogri literature but also serve as a bridge between different languages and cultures. He emphasized that Dr Vinod’s writings reflect simplicity of life, social realities and the cultural diversity of India.
The programme conducted by young Dogri writer and theatre artist Pawan Verma. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of prominent writers, poets, critics, art and culture lovers, along with members of Dr Nirmal Vinod’s family.
