Dogri Sahitya Sabha Kuppad Pragalta organizes ‘Kavi Sammelan’

JAMMU, Feb 24: Dogri Sahitya Sabha, Kuppad Pragalta Jammu organized a Kavi Sammelan, which was presided over by Prof Lalit Magotra, President, Dogri Sanstha Jammu.
The poets who enthralled the audience with their poems and songs in the Kavi Sammelan included Rampal Sharma, Jagdish Singh Athmiya, Gandharv Singh, Neha Sharma, Rajni Thapa, Ramesh Chandra, Malor Jagir, Vishal Dogra, Subhash Sumbadhiya, Janak Raj Bgagat, Puran Singh, Hans Raj Sumbadhiya, Ashok Sharma, Pawan Verma, Indrajit Kesar, Randhir Singh Raipuria and Sushil Begana. The Dogri folk song sung by Sheelu Devi and party was the main attraction of the program.
While presiding over the programme, Prof Lalit Magotra said that it is a matter of great joy that by making individual efforts in every village, by forming institutions, the work of promotion and propagation of Dogri language is being done, which is absolutely necessary. This shows that the future of Dogri cannot be as bleak as some thinkers living away from the ground express concern, he added and called upon all to make joint efforts to preserve Dogri by talking to their children in their homes.
Speaking on this occasion, General Secretary of Dogri Sanstha Jammu, Rajeshwar Singh ‘Raju’ said that it is a matter of great happiness that in a village like Kuppadh Pragalta, there are so many talented Dogri poets, who should get as many platforms as possible to showcase their literary talent. He said that local litterateurs should make efforts to publish their literature so that their literature reaches far and wide. He promised to provide all possible help from Dogri Sanstha Jammu.
Subhash Sumbadhiya presented a welcome address on behalf of Dogri Sahitya Sabha. The program was conducted by the famous Dogri humor poet Randhir Singh Raipuria. Many Dogri language lovers and poets participated in the Kavi Sammelan.
On the occasion, Prof Lalit Magotra was felicitated by Dogri Sahitya Sabha for being recently awarded Padma Shri.
