JAMMU, Feb 5: Ahead of the Guru Ravidass birth celebrations, a collection of Dogri poems on different aspects of the life of this great Indian saint were released here today.
The poems were released by Balbir Ram Rattan, National General Secretary, Guru Ravidass Vishwa Mahapeeth in presence of prominent members of the community including Ashok Gandhi and Yash Pal Shivgotra.
The collection of poems, titled “Sabne de Raidas,” pays tribute to Guru Ravidass’s teachings of equality, love and humanity.
C S Kattal, a dogri poet wrote these poems in dogri language. The poems aim to make his teachings accessible to a wider readership.
Speaking on the occasion, Balbir Ram Rattan emphasized the significance of Guru Ravidass’s message in today’s world.
“His philosophy of universal brotherhood and social justice remains as relevant as ever. Through these poems, it is hoped to bring his wisdom closer to Dogri-speaking people,” he said.
Balbir pointed out that collection explores Guru Ravidass’s core ideals, devotion to the divine, rejection of caste-based discrimination and the pursuit of truth.
Both, Ashok Gandhi and Yash Pal Shivgotra, called it a valuable addition to Dogri literature.
They said that the poems are expected to inspire further literary explorations of Guru Ravidass’s legacy in regional languages.
