REASI, June 22: A Dogri play “Jailey de Qaidi” was staged by Sangam Theatre Group, Reasi in ongoing Drama festival organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and languages at NHPC Auditorium, Jyotipuram.
On this occasion, Assistant Revenue Attorney Officer, Suresh Kumar, was the chief guest. The play was written by Rajneesh Gupta and directed by veteran and renowned theatre Director, M Akram Khan with the Co-Direction of RK Narang.
The whole story of the play revolves around the two main characters namely Ghara and Rupa both are hailing from hilly rural area and depicts the exploitation of a pahari beautiful girl and a little bit retarded young man. The beautiful girl is the daughter-in -law of a rich family in the city where the young boy namely Ghara is the servant and is employed in the shop of that rich family. The daughter-in -law is a neglected lady in her in-laws house as she is unable to bear a child. Nobody is there in the house to console her except Ghara who also describes his pains and griefs to her.
Those who acted in the play include Rajinder Kumar, Barkha Thakur, Rafit Yasmeen, Anoop, Rashad Khan, Rekha and Vijay. The Music was rendered by Romesh Parwana and Purnima Sharma, Sets were designed by Anam Khan, Make-up by Parveen Akhtar, Costume by Raja Sohail, Lights by Sham and Tara Chand and Photography by Aadil.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest appreciated the efforts made by the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and languages for organizing such types of festival particularly in this district. The play was highly liked by the audience.
