Dogri play ‘Habba Khatoon’ staged in Delhi

JAMMU, June 23: Robroo Theatre, Delhi, today staged Dogri play ‘Habba Khatoon’ at Blank Canvas Auditorium, LTG.
The production, written and directed by acclaimed playwright Kajal Suri, represents a unique cultural confluence-bringing the poetic soul of Kashmir alive through the language of Jammu.
The play is based on the life of Habba Khatoon, the legendary poetess of Kashmir known for her soulful verses on love, pain and spiritual longing. By portraying her life in Dogri, the production not only honours the literary heritage of Kashmir but also enriches the Dogri language and theatre tradition, creating a rare blend of two distinct yet deeply connected cultures of the Himalayas.
The cast included Jaskaran Chopra, Annu Sharma, Harshit Singhal, Shubham Sharma, Sukhnandan Bindra, Vinayak Dwivedi, Geeta Sethi, Dharm Gupta, Neeraj Tiwari, Varsha Panthee, Rashi Sethi, Vaibhav Paul, Tarun Maggo and Bhupesh-none of whom was Dogri native yet all of them delivered powerful performance with remarkable linguistic and emotional fluency.
Make-up was done by Mohammad Rashid, lighting by Jerry Roy and music by Praveen Yadav.
