Dogri play ‘Baba Jittmal’ staged at JU

JAMMU, Dec 4: UTSAAH – The Club Consortium, University of Jammu (JU), Theatre Club in collaboration with the Heritage and Tourism Club, organised a special show of Dogri play ‘Baba Jittmal’ by a team of ‘The Reflection Group’ at Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium.
The play was written by Dr. Gian Singh.
Baba Jittmal narrates the inspiring story of a forgotten Duggar saint and farmer, reflecting the cultural ethos of Jammu through themes of compassion, simplicity and spiritual resilience.
Artists who performed in the play were Rohan Sharma, Ravinder Sharma, Ajay Tamang, Akash Katoch, Gorav Singh Manhas, Nitesh Kumar, Param Sagar, Kandrav Sharma, Ujbal, Neeraj, Keshav Singh, Raguvansh, Nitin, Vrinda Gujral, Drishty Sharma, Vishnupriya, Monika Thapa, Vashnavi Sharma and Pooravi Sharma.
The play was designed and directed by Ravinder Sharma, lighting was operated by Brijesh Avtar Sharma, music composed by Surinder Manhas and handled by Avinash Lakhnotra, choreography was done by Rohit Bains, makeup by Shammi Damir and costumes were designed by Pooja Sharma.
Late Surinder Manhas and Nandni Kapoor sung the songs of the play and Avinash Lakhnotra served as the Assistant Director.
Prof. J.P Singh Joorel, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu, was the chief guest.
Prof. Meena Sharma, Chairperson UTSAAH, welcomed the guests. Dr. Madhulika Singh, Coordinator, Theatre Club; Dr. Suvidha Khanna, Coordinator, Heritage and Tourism Club and Prof. Alka Sharma, Dean Business studies were also present on the occasion. The programme was coordinated by Cultural Officer, Ifra Kak.
