JAMMU, Dec 21: Dogri Sanstha Jammu is celebrating Dogri Maanta Divas for three days from today at Dogri Bhawan, Dogri Sanstha, Karan Nagar Jammu.
It may be mentioned here that Dogri Maanta Divas is celebrated every year on 22nd December on account of mother tongue Dogri’s inclusion in 8th schedule of Indian Constitution.
On the first day of 3- days celebration function, Sheetal Nanda, Secretary Social Welfare Department was chief guest on the occasion. The programme was presided over by Prof Lalit Magotra, President Dogri Sanstha Jammu.
The inaugural function started with presentation of Dogri Sanstha Tarana, written and composed by eminent music composer and poet Brij Mohan and produced and directed by SudeshVerma. After that a book exhibition was inaugurated in which some rare publications of Sanstha are also displayed.
On this occasion, Madan Gopal Padha, Shiv Mehta, Sudesh Raj, UshaKiran ‘Kiran’, Randhir Singh Raipuria, Janak Khajuria, Suraj Singh, Preeti Dubey and Surinder Sagar, were honoured with Dogri Sanstha Samman-2022 that carries a shawl and memento.
Sheetal Nanda, in her address as chief guest, extended her warm wishes to all Dogras on Dogri Maanta Divas and complemented Dogri Sanstha for organizing such an inspiring function which will surely help in promoting the mother tongue and regional cultural traditions. She said that we should realize that Dogri is our mother tongue and we have to preserve and promote it with all respect.
Prof Lalit Magotra, President Dogri Sanstha Jammu, who presided over the function, said that every year Dogri Sanstha Jammu honours the eminent personalities of Dogri Literature and art and culture as a token of appreciation for their contributions which inspires others also to contribute for promoting and preserving our language and cultural traditions.
The program that was attended by galaxy of prominent personalities from all walks of life, was conducted by Pawan Verma and vote of thanks was presented by Dr Chanchal Bhasin.
