JAMMU, Sept 12: Reiterating the demand to declare a gazetted holiday on September 23- birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh, Dogra youth today held a strong protest demonstration.
The protest was led by Bhanu Partap Singh Goria under the supervision of Partap Singh Jamwal. They raised slogans in support of their demand and also criticized the previous BJP Govt for not taking up the issue.
The protesters also burnt the effigy of BJP and administration for ignoring the demand of Jammu region to include the last Dogra ruler’s birth anniversary in the list.
Addressing the gathering, Partap Singh Jamwal critisized the released list of public holidays for 2020-21 which does not include the birth anniversary of last Dogra ruler Maharaja Hari Singh. He targeted the BJP for disbanding the Dogra State and downgrading it to Union Territory.
Bhanu Pratap urged the LG to declare 23rd September a public holiday as a mark of respect to the Dogra ruler.
