JAMMU, Nov 30: Parmeshwari Care & Cure Charitable Trust (PCCCT), in collaboration with Bharat Bharati, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, and J&K Tourism, will organize the prestigious ‘Dogra Legacy Award’ on 22 December in Jammu.
The announcement was made during a meeting of the Trust held here today under the chairmanship of Sham Lal Sharma, patron of PCCCT, MLA Jammu North, and former cabinet minister of J&K.
Addressing the meeting, Sham Lal Sharma said the upcoming event is not merely a ceremonial function but a major initiative aimed at promoting Dogra art, food, culture, and heritage. He stressed that the Dogra Legacy Award is conceived as a movement dedicated to transferring the rich and diverse Dogra legacy to future generations. “Preservation of Dogra identity requires collective participation, and this event will serve as a significant step in that direction,” he noted.
Providing an overview of the event, Prof Kulbhushan Mohtra, Managing Trustee, PCCCT, informed the gathering that multiple committees-four to five in number-will be formed to ensure the smooth and efficient conduct of the programme. He added that Dr Jitendra Singh, MoS in PMO, will grace the occasion as the chief guest, while Dr Madhu Krishan from the USA will serve as the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Romesh Khajuria, Trustee PCCCT, Ambassador of the Wool & Woollens Export Promotion Council (WWEPC), former Chairman WWEPC, and former Chairman CEPC, Union Ministry of Textiles, said the Legacy Award, coinciding with ‘Dogri Manyata Divas’, will serve as a bridge connecting various generations of the Dogra community.
Prominent attendees included SK Sharma (Retd IRS), Ravi Bakshi, Pawan Kumar Sharma, Rajinder Kakar, Rama Jamwal, Sanjeev Vaid, Mookerji Sharma and other distinguished members of society.
