JAMMU, Oct 1: Up in arms against the prolonged power cuts, the workers of Dogra Front & Shiv Sena today took out a protest rally in Jammu City
Led by their President Ashok Gupta, the protesting workers were carrying hand fans signifying the need of those as there is no electricity in Jammu.
“Disruption in power supply also disrupts the education of students and working in hospitals besides the business operations both in urban and rural parts of Jammu & Kashmir,” said Ashok Gupta and demand immediate intervention of the bureaucratic top brass exercising institutional and administrative control over the Power Dev Corporations Ltd in Kashmir and Jammu.
He lamented that Smart Meters are being installed all over the Union Territory  burdening the common man but no efforts were being made to ensure regular supply of electricity.
“The situation is very bad due to unscheduled power cuts, which is also causing irregular supply of drinking water,’ said Ashok Gupta and sought personal intervention of the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to provide relief to the public.
Gupta also suggested that the Government should start investing in the solar power projects as Jammu receives ample amount of sunlight which is carbon free and at a very low cost electricity can be generated by the Government.
Dogra Front and Shiv Sena activists, who were present at the time of protest, included Bittu, Sunil, Rajkumar, Sanju, Rahul, Dinesh, Ajay, Vikas, Bantu, Prem, Rampal, Kalu and others.
