Dogra Brahman Sabha celebrates Vishwa Brahmin Divas

JAMMU, June 1: The Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha (DBPS) and other Brahmin organisations across the region today celebrated the birth anniversary of Acharya Chanakya as Vishwa Brahmin Divas with enthusiasm and devotion.
A special function was organised at the DBPS premises under the leadership of its president, Ved Parkash Sharma, who said the day highlights the contributions and pride of the Brahmin community in Hindu tradition.
Chairman of DBPS, Advocate P C Sharma, explained that Vishwa Brahmin Divas translates to World Brahmin Day, celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of the great Indian philosopher and diplomat, Acharya Chanakya.
Several prominent personalities attended the function including NMC President Subash Shastri and former Deputy Commissioner BS Jamwal.
They noted that June 1 is observed as the symbolic birth anniversary of Chanakya, who is hailed as a guiding figure in Indian politics and strategy.
Senior BJP leader Chander Mohan Sharma, Romesh Sharma of Bawa Bhair Dev Sthan Trust, and former JMC Commissioner Soujanya Sharma paid rich tribute to Acharya Chanakya, describing him as a brilliant strategist and author of the Arthashastra.
Other participants who paid homage included N C Sharma, M L Sharma, Satyanand Sharma, M L Padha, Barita Ram, Ritiz Khajuria, Shiv Ram Sharma, Jagan Nath Sharma, K L Sharma, Mahesh Sharma, Davinder Sharma (Baboo), S S Baru, Gurdass Sharma, Sat Paul Sharma, Raman Sharma, Som Nath Sharma, Rajesh Sharma, Prem Balotra, Sanjeev Kerni, Krishan Lal Sharma and Girdhari Lal.
The event also featured the recitation of Acharya Chanakya Chalisa, and a Havan Yajna was performed to mark the occasion.
Participants recalled Chanakya’s immense knowledge across various disciplines and his enduring legacy in Indian thought and governance.
