Document presenting brief history of ‘Rajouri Day’ released

RAJOURI, Apr 5: ‘Rajouri Day Document’, which contains the brief history regarding struggle of the people of this border district when it was illegally and forcefully captured by the Pakistan sponsored tribal forces, was released here today.
Sangharsh Movement released the document during a program near Balidan Stambh Rajouri.
Interacting with media persons, the representatives of Sangarsh Movement informed that Rajouri Day is observed every year on April 13 as a token of remembrance when Rajouri was recaptured and liberated by the Army from the Pakistan sponsored tribal forces. “The day is observed as the ‘Vijay Diwas’ and tribute is presented to the valiant martyrs at their memorial at the Shaeedi Chowk, Balidan Satambh (Gujjar Mandi) near Rane Hawai Patti, Rajouri,” they said.
Indian Army under the command of Brigadier Mohammed Usman Khan captured Jhangar on 15th of March 1948 and thereafter General Kulwant Singh made the offensive strategy of move and advance towards Rajouri. The Indian forces recaptured Chingus on 10th of April 1948 and the final assault on Rajouri ruling raiders was commanded by Brigadier Yudunath Singh and by the evening of 12th of April 1948 the Rajouri was recaptured comprehensively by the Indian forces.
In memory of this vital victory, every year on 13th of April, Rajouri Day is celebrated as the Vijay Diwas with full zeal and enthusiasm. Pertinent to mention that besides Indian Army, Sangarsh Movement is also celebrating Rajouri Day since 13th of April 2015.
For the first time, District Administration Rajouri, led by Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma, has shown keen interest in celebrating Rajouri Day by organizing multiple events.
The Rajouri Day document has been compiled by Vikrant Sharma, Chief Resource Person of Sangarsh Movement. Hardev Raj Verma, Dinesh Sharma, Kanav Badyal, Rakesh Gupta, Pushpinder Gupta, Nishu Gupta, Sunil Gupta, Muneer Mirza, Gurdev Thakur, Saleem Talib, Aman Zari, Rahul Chandan, Ashish Bhasin Soonam Sharma, Priyanka Khajuria, Babal Chandan, Nazia Manhas, Sonika, Tilak Sudan, Sanjeev Sharma, Shiv Dutta, Rohit Gupta, Sanjay Bali, Raja Mathur, Mohd Abbas, Rajkumar, Shahnawaz Khan and many others were present during the document release ceremony.
