JAMMU, June 8: Durga Nagar Welfare Committee (DNWC) in a meeting today held under the chairmanship of Roshan Lal Raina its president discussed the various issues of displaced Pandits.
The meeting expressed concern that for the last three years despite repeated pleas by the community the Government failed to hike the relief despite the fact that the prices of essential commodities have sky rocketed.
The meeting, which was also addressed by the advisor of the Committee, Prof Girdhari Lal Koul, Behari Lal its general secretary , C L Zutshi , Badri Nath, Bansi Lal and Nana Ji said that Rs 1300 given as cash relief per family of over four members will not cater to their needs in this period of crisis when prices are soaring day by day.
The meeting said that even after passage of over 10 years the 6000 posts under PM package were not filled up. It said the file of 28 statistical assistants is biting the dust in GAD. It said the Central Government of Narendra Modi had announced more 3000 posts for Kashmiri migrants but they were not announced till date. It, while discussing other issues urged the Union Government for deferment of Income Tax to the Kashmiri migrants as was done earlier governments. It said in view of the economical crisis faced by the community who lost their entire property due to terrorism in Valley and were put to many hardships during the exile be exemption from Income Tax till their dignified return to Valley and restoration of their land and property.
The meeting also highlighted the local issues including issuance of 100 kv transformer and construction of tube well in Durga Nagar to solve the problem of drinking water.
