JAMMU, Nov 28: In a remote village of Udhampur district, a `Divyang’ (physically challenged ) girl of sixth standard at Government Middle School Meldi in Panchayat Fangyal, is embarking on a unique journey-one that goes beyond textbooks and classrooms.
Despite facing physical challenged, Kajal along with her fellow students, is braving a daily struggle, not against academic challenges, but against the treacherous pathway leading to their beloved school.
The only pathway to the school is marred by potholes and scattered stones, especially menacing during the rainy season.
“I’ve stumbled countless times on this road,” Kajal shared with resilience in her voice. “My classmates and parents assist me in reaching school, but it’s incredibly tough for all of us. I appeal to Prime Minister Modi to pave the way for a better road to our school, ” she said.
Kajal’s plea has cast a spotlight on the hardships faced by the 101 students at Government Middle School Meldi, particularly those with disabilities.
Every morning, these eager learners set out on foot, determined to acquire knowledge. However, the dilapidated road adds an unexpected hurdle to their educational pursuit.
These students have appealed the Government authorities to construct the road and provide adequate infrastructure at the school so that they may not face hurdles in getting education.

The school houses a total of 101 students, including a many who are differently abled. Due to the extremely bad condition of the only approach road to the school, vehicles can’t ply on it with the result the students have no option other than to walk to school risking falls and accidents.
Kajal’s courageous appeal has ignited a collective call for change, echoing far beyond the boundaries of Panchayat Fangyal. It is a testament to the indomitable spirit of these young minds, determined to overcome obstacles and reach for the stars.
Meanwhile, the district administration is learnt to have taken cognizance of the students call for addressing their concern at the earliest.
