JAMMU, Nov 22: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Shantmanu convened a meeting to review the post Navratra Festival arrangements, here today.
This was for the first time that such a meeting was organized. The aim of the meeting was to analyse shortcomings and rectify the same during next celebrations.
Threadbare discussions were held on various issues including security, law and order besides protocol, traffic, sanitation, healthcare and other facilities for visiting pilgrims.
Divisional Commissioner asked the participants to evolve effective mechanism and work in strategic and coordinated manner to take Navratra Festivals at massive scale besides making them more attractive and festive. He underlined the need to improve quality of programmes/events and asked to keep all arrangements at common platform to make festival of international standard event.
Shantmanu called upon the concerned officers to issue strict activity schedule/calendar of Navratra Festival besides documentation of events so that the same would be organized in a planned manner, adding that national level religious and spiritual quiz programmes are additional events which attract tourists and pilgrims to a larger extent.
Divisional Commissioner also constituted a committee headed by District Development Commissioner, Reasi, one member each from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Tourism Department and Government official and three members from Festival Organizing Committee who can work in a close liaison so that the Navratra Festivals would be organized in a big way every year.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, M.K. Bhandari, DDC, Reasi, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Chowdhary, Director Tourism, Soujanya Sharma, SSP, Reasi, M.S. Chouhan besides members of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and senior officers of various concerned departments.
