JAMMU, Mar 25: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar in presence of Inspector General of Police, Bhim Sen Tuti on Wednesday chaired a meeting to review the preparations put in place by the stakeholder departments for successful conduct of Jammu Marathon- 2026
The meeting was attended by IGP Traffic, DIG JSK range, MD JPDCL, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Commissioner JMC, Director Information, SSP Jammu, SSP Security, SSP Traffic, Director Tourism, Director Health Services Jammu, Secretary Sports Council, HODs and senior officers from Youth Services and Sports, AAI, PWD, PHE, Fire and Emergency Services, SDRF, Floriculture and JKTDC.
The Director Tourism briefed the chair about the preparations. He said that detailed and meticulous planning has been made for the Jammu Marathon, which is expected to witness the participation of a large number of athletes and citizens. It was further informed that a three day Expo from 26 to 28 March, 2026 shall be organized at Dussehra Ground, Apsara road showcasing the rich cultural ethos of Jammu. The event shall feature a variety of stalls for visitors.
The Marathon, being organized from MA Stadium Jammu at 6 am shall be held for 21 KM, 10 KM and 5 KM categories.
The Divisional Commissioner assessed different aspects of the preparations being put in place by the civil and the Police administration.
He directed for visible signages for traffic diversions to avoid inconvenience to the general public during the conduct of the marathon. He asked the Traffic Department to formulate a detailed traffic plan and give the same a wide publicity via radio and Digital Displays across the Jammu city.
The marathon would pass through all the major iconic and heritage points of Jammu city including Raghunath Bazaar, Amar Mahal, Circular road near Mubarakh Mandi, Balidan Stambh, General Zorawar Singh Chowk, Apsara road and Tawi Bridge.
The Divisional Commissioner asked the Tourism Department to ensure best possible arrangements for the participants of the marathon. He advised them to deploying ample number of volunteers and prominently display the helpline numbers and parking area signage at the Venue.
