Displaced Wing of DPAP submits memorandum to Govt

JAMMU, Jan 7: Kashmiri Displaced People Wing (J&K) of Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) has submitted a charter of demands to the Government highlighting demands of displaced people from the Valley for favour of consideration by the Government.
The memorandum demanded that long standing issues of displaced people be settled. It also demanded removal of disparity to which community has been subjected which is the victim of genocide.
The memorandum said “Due to non absorption of educated youth of community in Government employment after displacement, our youth were compelled to remain idle, resulting a total overage category, which led them to live a miserable life, in absence of financial sources. Their career was ruined. In this regard it is submitted that those overaged educated youth although wanted to earn their livelihood by establishing their Industrial units either by themselves or in cooperative manner after various youth joining hands to form groups, but being land less ,they could not be able to establish their small scale/entrepreneur units .In this context it is demanded that their demand for leasing out pieces of land in their favour till the rehabilitation of community. Besides they may be given soft and subsidised loans either from banks or other financial agencies so that they can earn their livelihood.
Through memorandum the Government was appealed to consider this demand on priority basis to save displaced youth from starvation. It demanded 20,000 posts for displaced youth as the number of Government employees at the time of exodus was over 20,000. These posts were filled from the majority community in the Valley while the displaced youth were totally ignored.
It also demanded allotment of quarters to PM package employees on war footing basis in Kashmir so that they may have a sense of security and safety.
It demanded that supernumerary posts of P.M package employees be merged with UT Goverment employees, so that they may not feel discriminated.
The memorandum has been submitted by the two senior leaders of the organisation Sanjay Dhar and P L Thusoo.
