JAMMU, Aug 6: In order to promote tourism in J&K, a high level delegation headed by Director Tourism Jammu Sojanya Sharma visited the ancient “Cheryai Kagha” to mobilize the report of the tourist spot for necessary action by the Union Tourism Ministry.
Sojanya Sharma was accompanied by the Additional Chief Conservator of Forests Ravi Kumar Kesar, former conservator of Forests and Member, Public Service Commission RL Bharti, President Hotel and Restaurant Association Katra Shyam Lal Kesar, Chief Warden Civil Defence and Senior Vice President, Hotel and Restaurant Association Katra Rakesh Wazir, Padamshree SP Verma, Engineering team of the department headed by Deputy Director Maintenance and Works Javed.
Earlier, in order to increase the stay of the pilgrims visiting Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, Hotel and Restaurant Association, Katra delegation led by its president Shyam Lal Kesar met Union Secretary Tourism Parvez Dewan, who in his endevour to promote the tourism industry in the country and J&K in particular asked Commissioner Secretary Tourism for sending a detail report along with estimate and plans of the tourist spot namely “Cheryai Kagha”.
While speaking, Kesar apprised Parvez Dewan about the Cheryai Kagha, a famous ancient spot of 15th century developed by then ruler. All the remains of ancient times are still there in the form of old art structures, water bodies and temples, which depict beautiful work done during that period, he added.
This tourist spot is fully surrounded by the beautiful old trees of chinars, mangoes and other species and when fully developed would attract major tourists from Katra and all over India more particularly when the train is about to reach here and is even more convenient to go since it is on way while going from Katra to Patnitop and Kashmir, he added.
