Kathua, July 22: Director Rural Development Jammu, Shahnaz Akhter, today conducted a comprehensive review of the implementation of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) in the district, besides assessing the overall functioning of the department.
The meeting was attended by Superintending Engineer (REW) Rajesh Agastam, Joint Director Administration Avleen Kour Bali, Assistant Development Commissioner Kathua Akhil Sadotra, Deputy Director Planning Ravinder Singh, District Panchayat Officer Kathua, Block Development Officers, and officers from the REW Wing.
The Assistant Commissioner Development Kathua gave a detailed presentation on performance indicators under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), and the progress achieved in the implementation of projects under the Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) and Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA).
He apprised that the district had achieved 100% Person-Days (PD) target in the previous financial year, and out of the set target of 6 lakh PD generation for the current year, 1 lakh PD has already been achieved. The district has also achieved 93% completion under PMAY-G and 96% under the Area Officer App target.
While conducting a detailed review of block-wise performance under various schemes, the Director RDD emphasized the need for close monitoring of key performance indicators, particularly under MGNREGA and PMAY-G, to ensure the benefits of these schemes reach all eligible beneficiaries. She also stressed adherence to fixed timelines, quality monitoring, and optimal utilization of funds. Akhter further highlighted the importance of teamwork, transparency, accountability, and collaborative efforts in achieving the goals of rural development and people-centric governance.
