JAMMU, May 17: Diploma Engineers Association (DEA) in its general body meeting here, today discussed the various demands of the cadre. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Er Upinder Singh, president of the Association.
Addressing the meeting Upinder Singh expressed his strong resentment over the dilly dallying attitude of the administration of Jal Shakti Department in releasing the promotion lists of JEs, AEs and AEEs out of 20 percent quota earmarked for Diploma engineers.
The meeting expressed anguish that even after rendering more than 35 years of service the diploma engineers are still aspiring for their first promotion. Upinder Singh said that promotion list is not being released despite the availability of over 98 posts of AEs, 78 posts of AEEs and 18 posts of Executive Engineers. He wondered that how can the administration keeps such a huge number of posts vacant at various levels for more than two years despite the availability of aspirants.
He said the undue delay in releasing the promotion list is leading diploma engineers towards the retirement as no diploma engineer will be eligible for the post of AEE and Executive Engineer in many years to come due to eligibility criteria bar.
The members made an appeal to the administration and Commissioner Secretary, Jal Shakti Department to personally intervene in the matter for ensuring early release of the promotion list of the diploma engineers.
