JAMMU, Nov 15: A deputation of All J&K Diploma Engineers Association called on KK Sharma, the Advisor to Governor in his office chambers in the Civil Secretariat here today and projected the long pending demands of the engineering fraternity.
Led by Upinder Singh, president of the Association, the members of the deputation apprised the Advisor that even after rendering 30 years of service, most of the diploma engineers were aspiring for first ever promotion. They suggested that Punjab type pattern for removing the stagnation among the engineering cadre be adopted.
The Association further briefed that the report of Establishment-cum-Select Committee held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary on Feb 16, 2012 has not been implemented till date and 20 % quota earmarked for diploma engineers is not being adhered to at the level of Assistant Executive Engineer and Executive Engineers, in all the engineering departments. They demanded that this committee report be implemented.
The Association regretted that against the allotted 97 posts at the level of AEE there are only 12 in position; and against 24 posts of Xen, there are only 9 in position in Hydraulic; against the 108 posts at the level of AEE there are only 15 in place and against 39 posts, 11 in position for the post of Xen in Pw(R&B) and same is the position in Mechanical and PDD.
They also pointed out that a JE is being given Rs 30 per month as fixed travelling allowance where as every Junior Engineer is covering almost 25-30 kms per day distance to run the section. They should be given at least Rs 5000 FTA per month. The Advisor gave patient hearing and expressed his willingness to solve these issues.
Chairman DEA Anil Gupta, JS Rathore- convener, Narinder Singh, Ram Lal Sharma, Jai Pal Sharma and Sanjay Sharma also accompanied.
