JAMMU, Aug 25: President of Mission Statehood, Sunil Dimple today led a strong protest against what he termed the “substandard quality” of work carried out under the Jammu Smart City project by JMC, PWD, ERA and NHAI.
Dimple said, “The recent rains had “exposed the poor quality of poles, roads, bridges and sewerage systems” constructed over the past decade. Despite huge funds being allotted for Jammu’s development, most of the works collapsed or were washed away in a single spell of rain.”
“From Janipur, Roopnagar, Canal Road, Talab Tillo, Shakti Nagar, Shiv Nagar to all 75 wards of Jammu city, people have suffered immense losses. Houses, shops, furniture, ornaments, fridges and essential goods have been destroyed,” Dimple said, demanding a CBI probe into the funds spent on Smart City and highway projects.
“The bridges constructed on the Jammu-Kathua National Highway by the Road Transport Ministry in the last 8-10 years had collapsed, exposing the Government’s claims of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” and Smart City development,” he said.
Dimple further demanded that the Government immediately deploy the Divisional Commissioner, DCs, Tehsildars and revenue teams to assess the losses in all wards of Jammu city.
He urged Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to announce a special financial package for victims of the recent flood fury, along with Government jobs for families who lost their earning members in tragedies in Kishtwar and Kathua.
Among others who joined the protest included Satpal Sharma, Sachin Soi, Rupesh Bhat, Ashok Sharma, Narender Choudhary, Rocky, Baba Gupta, Sudesh Kumar and Vikas.
