JAMMU, May 23: Sunil Dimple, president of Mission Statehood, led a protest on Janipur High Court Road against the Power Development Department (PDD) and Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department, demanding an end to unscheduled power cuts and the acute water crisis.
Joined by women, children and the elderly, Dimple alleged that old, low-capacity transformers trip frequently, plunging areas into darkness and damaged transformers or burnt cables go unrepaired for days. He also accused the PDD of issuing inflated and incorrect bills with no accountability.
He criticized the PHE Department for failing to provide clean drinking water, with many Jammu localities facing severe shortages. He called for urgent work on the Chenab water project and the procurement of new water tankers.
