Dilapidated condition of road irks commuters, locals

DODA, Mar 19: Dilapidated condition of 11-kilometers long road from Kahara to Tanta in tehsil Kahara has irked the commuters and locals.
As per reports, the 11-kilometers road from Kahara to Tanta in Tehsil to be constructed under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) is in dilapidated condition.
The road is under construction from the past 13 years and is still without metling and blacktopping, which has irked the commuters as well as the local people, living in the villages along this road.
The construction of this road was started in 2007 and till today it has not been completed, due to the reason best known to the officials sitting at the helm of affairs.
The commuters while talking to the EXCELSIOR narrated their woes. They said that during rains, it becomes almost impossible to commute on this road due to its dilapidated condition.
The road is full of potholes and invites accident during rainy days, they added.
Locals while talking to the EXCELSIOR said that it is almost impossible to even walk on this road during bad weather condition.
The issue was taken up with the concerned authorities several times, but no action has been taken to complete the construction of the road.
When contacted, X-En BL Thusoo, told the EXCELSIOR that construction work of this road will start very soon.
He admitted that the road is in dilapidated condition and at the same time assured that the road will be completed very soon.
