RAJOURI, July 21: In preparation for the upcoming Shri Buddha Amarnath Ji Yatra, a high-level security and coordination meeting was convened today at Dak Bungalow Sunderbani by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Udhampur-Reasi (U-R) Range, Sarah Rizvi.
The meeting was attended by DIG JKS Range Shiv Kumar, SSP Rajouri Gaurav Sikarwar, SSP Jammu Joginder Singh, SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh, along with officers from CRPF, CID, Army units including 54 RR, 4 Dogra, 10 Div and 25 Div, as well as other civil and police officials including Addditional SPs of Reasi and Nowshera, SDPOs of Nowshera, Akhnoor and Domana, Deputy SPs from Traffic, PC Pouni, PC Mogla, and SHOs of Sunderbani and Pouni.
During the meeting, the SSPs of Rajouri, Jammu and Reasi briefed the senior officers about the current deployment and the security scenario in their respective areas of responsibility.
DIG Sarah Rizvi emphasized the necessity for foolproof security arrangements, smooth traffic management, medical preparedness, sanitation and the provision of essential facilities for the pilgrims. She underscored the importance of inter-agency coordination, real-time communication and 24×7 monitoring of the yatra route to ensure the safety and comfort of all participants.
Highlighting the significance of the Yatra, Rizvi said, “Buddha Amarnath Yatra is not just a religious event but a symbol of communal harmony. It is the collective responsibility of all agencies to ensure it is conducted smoothly and safely.”
She issued key directives during the meeting, which include the movement of pilgrims strictly in convoys with proper escorts, merging of stray vehicles into mini convoys, ensuring that no yatra-bound vehicle moves without an escort, deployment of adequate security personnel along the route and at all vulnerable spots, installation of CCTV surveillance and checking points, establishment of control rooms.
Rizvi called for regular reviews and real-time coordination throughout the Yatra. She assured pilgrims of full support from the administration and appealed to the public to cooperate in ensuring a safe and successful conduct of the yatra.
