DIG Shiv Kumar reviews security arrangements ahead of Christmas, New Year

KATHUA, Dec 13: To review the security situation ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations, DIG JSK Range Shiv Kumar Sharma today chaired a security review meeting at the Conference Hall of DPL Kathua.
The meeting was attended by SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma, Additional SP Kathua Rahul Charak, DySPs, SHOs of the district and representatives of Traffic Police, Army, Intelligence Bureau, CRPF, BSF, CID CI, CID SB, Fire and Emergency Services, IRP Nineteenth Battalion, PTS Kathua and National Highway Authority of India, Kathua unit.
During the meeting, the DIG reviewed key security issues, including infiltration attempts along the border, security of vital installations and National Highways, regulation of drone activity, checking of vehicles with registration numbers from other States and movement around deras.
The overall law and order situation in the district was also discussed.
Officers were directed to maintain close coordination at SDPO and SHO levels and ensure timely sharing of intelligence related to interstate drug peddlers, gangsters, history-sheeters and bovine smugglers.
Stress was laid on strengthening inter-agency coordination to prevent any untoward incident.
The DIG also directed intensified joint patrolling, CASOs and nakas, particularly in border areas, with special focus on checking vehicles from border belts during early morning hours.
He stressed heightened vigilance to thwart infiltration, drone dropping incidents and movement of anti-national elements, and asked all agencies to remain alert and proactive to ensure a peaceful festival period in the district.
