JAMMU, Jan 19: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma, unveiled a special calendar for the year 2026, using cartoons to spread strong message on law, social responsibility and public safety.
The other senior police officers present on the occasion included the Staff Officer to DIG JSK Range Sanjay Kumar Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police Traffic Jammu Amit Bhasin, Additional Superintendent of Police Traffic Jammu, Private Secretary to DIG JSK Range Rabinder Raina, and other officers.
The calendar has been designed as a visual message for people who violate the law and ignore their social responsibilities.
All cartoons featured in the calendar have been drawn by Chandrashekhar, an internationally known cartoonist who has been using his art for over three decades to raise social awareness.
The calendar goes beyond marking dates and months, and reflects the positive and firm role of the Jammu and Kashmir Police in protecting society.
Special emphasis has been laid on issues affecting today’s youth, particularly drug abuse.
The calendar highlights the strict action taken by the police against drug peddlers and smugglers under Operation Sanjeevani, showcasing the resolve of the police to curb the menace of narcotics.
The calendar also portrays the police’s strong stand against terrorism and organised crime.
Another major issue addressed is the use of the dangerous Chinese kite string, commonly known as gattu, which causes serious injuries and deaths every year.
In addition, the calendar draws attention to reckless bike stunts by underage boys on public roads and the harassment faced by citizens due to such acts. It also underlines strict laws and action against the harassment of women and minor girls.
