DIG JSK Range reviews Yatra security in Jammu, Samba, Kathua

JAMMU, June 18: In view of the upcoming Shri Amarnath Yatra 2025, DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma today reviewed the security arrangements across key locations in Jammu, Samba, and Kathua districts.
The review covered areas including Lakhanpur Yatra Reception Centre, Rajbagh, Dayala Chak, Hiranagar, Ghagwal, Nonath, Chichi Mata, Samba, Vijaypur, Bari Brahmana, Kaluchak, Gangyal, and Satwari Chowk.
Senior officers from the police, security forces, and SHOs of the JSK Range attended the meeting.
During his visit to various lodgement centres and langar sites, the DIG emphasized coordinated efforts among all agencies to ensure the safety and smooth passage of pilgrims.
Officers were directed to focus on security along the route, particularly at Bhagwati Nagar Base Camp and all designated lodging and langar sites.
He stressed implementation of Operation Third Eye (installation of CCTV cameras) across jurisdictions, involving close coordination with stakeholders to ensure foolproof surveillance.
Officers were instructed to strengthen existing nakas, especially at border points and during night hours, and identify additional locations for setting up new checkpoints.
The DIG also called for increased vigilance, regular mock drills, and round-the-clock checking of vehicles-especially during early morning and late-night hours.
He directed personnel to keep a close watch on vendors and report any suspicious activity without delay.
Coordination with intelligence agencies, including Army, paramilitary, and other central forces, was also highlighted.
Officers were asked to share real-time inputs and set up joint nakas for enhanced results.
All jurisdictional officers of the JSK Range participated in the review.
