DIG JSK Range reviews security, visits border posts ahead of Jhiri Mela

JAMMU, Nov 1: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma, today convened a meeting to review the security and traffic arrangements for the Jhiri Mela 2025.
The meeting was attended by SDPO Domana Mudassar Hussain, SHO Kahnachak Manoj Dhar, SHO Domana Varuneshwar Singh, SI Dipika Jalotra, ASI Kuljeet Singh, and other officers.
During the meeting, the DIG stressed the importance of coordinated efforts among all stakeholders to ensure the safety of pilgrims.
He directed the officers to strengthen nakas, particularly in border and city areas, and to remain vigilant during night and early morning hours.
The officers were instructed to maintain strict surveillance on pickpockets, drug peddlers, and anti-social elements, besides ensuring effective crowd management throughout the event.
The DIG further emphasized maintaining close coordination with intelligence agencies, including the Army, paramilitary forces, and central security agencies, to ensure real-time information sharing.
He also reviewed arrangements for traffic regulation, parking, medical facilities, and emergency response measures to handle the large influx of devotees during the Mela.
Later, DIG Sharma visited the BSF border outposts in the Kahnachak area near the Mela site.
The BSF has heightened alertness and intensified patrolling along the International Border, with all observation posts being manned round the clock.
The DIG also held discussions with BSF officers on security-related issues and issued necessary directions to ensure a safe and peaceful Jhiri Mela.
