JAMMU, June 4: In view of the upcoming VVIP visit to Jammu and Kashmir, DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma, today conducted an extensive visit of border areas and reviewed the security and operational preparedness in Jammu, Samba, and Kathua districts.
During the review, the DIG held meetings with all SSPs, ASPs, SPs Operations, DySPs Operations, SDPOs, and officers from intelligence agencies.
He directed them to intensify ground-level efforts and take all possible measures to foil any attempts by anti-national elements.
He stressed that all border areas, especially old infiltration routes, must be thoroughly searched.
Strict action was ordered against anti-national and anti-social elements, including Over Ground Workers (OGWs).
He emphasized the importance of enhancing surveillance and coordination among security agencies.
The DIG also instructed field officers to engage with residents of remote villages and ensure that minority pickets remain alert.
He called for the activation of Village Defence Groups (VDGs) and directed that regular Police-Public meetings be held in border and far-flung areas to strengthen community coordination and spread awareness about the current security scenario.
