JAMMU, June 15: To mark the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma, today released the HelpAge India’s annual report, “United by Family, Divided by Age.”
The launching ceremony was attended by Deepak Khajuria, team of HelpAge India, including Neeru Khajuria, Manager HelpAge India; Tanmay Sharma, volunteer HelpAge India; Darshan Shastri, renowned astrologer and social activist, and several senior citizens.
On the occasion, the DIG JSK Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma highlighted the issue of elders’ abuse and termed the HelpAge India’s report as an eye opener for the society.
Sharma said that the JSK Range Police is ready to work with the HelpAge India for the welfare of the senior citizens.
Pertinently, HelpAge India has been currently helping the senior citizens in 15 States of the country with a national toll-free helpline number 1800-180-1253.
