KATHUA, Aug 8: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, IRP Range Jammu, Dr Vinod Kumar visited the IRP-19th Battalion Headquarters in Kathua to assess the functioning of the Battalion, audit manpower, and oversee the progress of ongoing construction projects.
On his arrival, a ceremonial Guard of Honour was presented to the DIG. Commandant IRP-19th Battalion, Atul Sharma, extended a warm welcome and highlighted the role and achievements of the Battalion over the year. He also briefed the DIG on the current deployment status and the challenges being faced by the personnel.
As part of the visit, Dr Kumar convened a darbar attended by approximately 150 officers and officials of the Battalion. During the interaction, he patiently heard the grievances of the personnel and issued on-the-spot directions for redressal of some of the issues raised.
The DIG also invited suggestions from the personnel aimed at improving the overall work culture within the Battalion and assured that the welfare of the force would remain a top priority. Relevant directions were also passed to the concerned officers during the session.
Demonstrating commitment towards environmental sustainability, around 150 fruit saplings were planted on the occasion as part of the Green Initiative undertaken by the Battalion. Dr Vinod Kumar and Commandant Atul Sharma jointly planted a ‘Jamun’ tree to mark the event.
Subsequently, the DIG undertook a detailed inspection of all newly initiated construction works and sites of proposed infrastructure within the Battalion premises. He instructed for the preparation of a comprehensive site plan depicting both existing facilities and the proposed sites.
During his inspection of key areas including Barracks, Mess, Wet Canteen, LSQ, Tradesmen Shop, Stores, and the adjoining nallah land, he issued specific instructions in alignment with the directives given during the video conference chaired by ADGP Armed J&K on August 6.
He also assessed the progress of the construction works already underway and provided valuable inputs to be incorporated in the planning of upcoming infrastructure.
