Different organizations celebrate International Youth Day

JAMMU, Aug 12: Various organizations across Jammu region enthusiastically celebrated International Youth Day 2025 today by organizing a series of engaging activities, including awareness programmes, cultural events and competitions.
In this regard, Government College of Education (GCOE), Canal Road, Jammu, celebrated International Youth Day 2025 with a series of impactful events promoting youth engagement and social awareness. The NSS Unit, in collaboration with Jammu Municipal Corporation, organized an essay competition on “Swachhata and Sustainability Innovation.” Simultaneously, the Anti-Ragging Cell, under Dr. Rakesh Bharti, screened a documentary to promote a ragging-free environment. The Red Ribbon Club, led by Prof. Roopa Kumari and Dr. Shubhra Jamwal, conducted a community meeting in Village Lower Ban Sultan, raising awareness on HIV/AIDS. Principal Dr. Jyoti Parihar lauded the students’ enthusiastic participation and leadership.
The Bharat Scouts & Guides Unit of Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Govt College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, celebrated International Youth Day, in collaboration with J&K Bharat Scouts and Guides. Led by Prof. Dr. Renu Nanda (State Commissioner Ranger) and supervised by Nasreen Khan, the event focused on leadership, service and community awareness. Principal Dr. Geetanjali Andotra encouraged youth participation. Thirty Rangers took part, sharing social issues and solutions, with letters to be submitted to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The event was supported by Prof. Ujjwal and senior Scouts from Jammu University.
The GDC Neeli Nallah also observed International Youth Day in the college premises today. College Principal Prof Seema Arora, Prof Rekha Sharma and Prof Shaista Yaseen delivered lectures. A competition was organised and winners were felicitated.
The Red Ribbon Club and NSS Unit of GDC Ramkote (Kathua), in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society, organized a Poster Making Competition today, to observe International Youth Day. Held under the patronage of Principal Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul, the event aimed to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS. Tanu Devi secured first position, followed by Nitakshi Sharma and Raghbir Singh. Prof. Anu Sharma coordinated the event.
Government Degree College (GDC) Jourian (Akhnoor) celebrated International Youth Day 2025 with activities organized by the IQAC and Department of Education. The events included a Debate Competition, Pledge Ceremony, Vad Samvad and a documentary on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to inspire youth in nation-building. Sixty students participated and received certificates. The program was led by Principal Prof. (Dr.) Anuradha Pandoh and attended by faculty members Dr. Suresh Sharma, Prof. Neeraj Verma, Prof. Archana Sharma, Dr. Sheetal Sharma, Rumma Salgotra, Rakshit Sharma and Sanjeev Sharma. Dr. Sheetal Sharma presented the vote of thanks.
International Youth Day was celebrated at GDC Bani with a poster-making competition and volleyball match organized by the Red Ribbon Club and NSS Unit in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society. Prof. Naseeb Kr Bhagat highlighted youth’s role in nation-building. Seven students participated in the competition themed “Youth Power of Nation.” The vVolleyball match, led by captains Keshav and Priti Devi, promoted physical fitness. Staff including Dr. Narinder and Dr. Nisha coordinated the events.
Government Degree College Ramnagar organized a Walkathon on International Youth Day under the themes “Swasth Yuva Viksit Bharat” and “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat.” Led by Principal Prof. (Dr.) Bhavnaish Chand Anthal, the event was held in collaboration with the Department of Sports, NCORD Cell, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and Red Ribbon Club. Students, faculty and staff participated enthusiastically, raising slogans and pledging to promote health, fitness and a drug-free lifestyle for nation-building.
The Red Ribbon Club of GDC Marheen (Kathua) celebrated International Youth Day with a series of activities. These included an Intra-college Group Discussion on “Viksit Bharat Youth Ambassadors”, a sensitization campaign against Narcotics, an HIV/AIDS awareness program, a debate on a HIV/AIDS-free J&K and a seminar with a pledge and screening of “Sardar @ 150”. The events were organized under Principal Prof. (Dr.) Anupama Gupta, supervised by Dr. Munisha Devi and Prof. Manu Saini, with faculty members Prof. Anoop Sharma and Dr. Shallu also present.
The Red Ribbon Club of Govt. DySP Aman Thakur Memorial Degree College, Kastigarh, in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society, observed International Youth Day 2025 with an inspiring program. Under Principal Prof. Koshal Kumar Mangotra’s guidance, Dr. Sumit Kotwal delivered a lecture on “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond,” emphasizing youth’s role in sustainable development. The event included a live national launch broadcast, a cleanliness drive and an interactive session. Dr. Arjun Singh and Dr. Anupam Lata supervised the program.
Government Degree College (GDC) Thannamandi celebrated International Youth Day today, with enthusiasm under the theme “Local Youth Actions for SDGs and Beyond” as part of Viksit Bharat@2047. The event, held under Principal Prof. (Dr.) Farooq Ahmed’s patronage, included a debate competition and folk performance. Dr. Shiraz Ahmed, Nodal Officer of the Red Ribbon Club, coordinated the program. Ambreen Qurashi won first prize in the debate. Faculty members Dr. Nazar-ul-Islam, Prof. Supriya Gupta and Prof. Altaf Hussain judged the contest.
MV International School celebrated International Youth Day 2025 with the theme “Viksit Bharat – 2047,” envisioning a developed India. The event featured special guests like artist Shivani Khajuria, Wushu gold medalist Rajat Charak, roller hockey champion Aiyza Naz Chib, filmmaker Atul Vinod Duggal, digital creator Hazel Jacobellis and ABVP State Secretary Sannak Shrivats. Alumni Adv. Himani Khajuria shared her inspiring journey. Students performed a fusion band, presented on youth icons and hosted a talk show on youth empowerment. Director Gourav Abrol encouraged students to pursue ambitious dreams and contribute to nation-building.
District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Udhampur celebrated International Youth Day at Subash Stadium. Chief Guest Virinder Singh Bhau, Principal District and Sessions Judge, emphasized youth empowerment in his inspiring speech. The event included a thrilling Kabaddi match between Government Degree College and PG College Udhampur and Basker Degree College teams. Guests of honour included Dr. Smriti Sharma, Romesh Chander and Suraj Bhan. Winners received medals and certificates. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Smriti Sharma, highlighting collaboration for youth development.
