Different organisations observe National Voters Day

JAMMU, Jan 24: Different organisations here today observed National Voters Day and organised many programmes in this regard.
GGM Science College, Jammu, organized a pledge ceremony on National Voters Day to promote democratic values and encourage active participation in the electoral process. On this occasion, Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta emphasized that voting is not only a constitutional right but also a fundamental duty of every citizen.
On National Voters Day, a district-level Voters’ Awareness Mass Rally was organised by the Higher Education Department, in collaboration with Chief Electoral Office, J&K, to promote voter awareness and democratic participation. The rally witnessed active participation of 65 NSS Volunteers from NSS Unit-1 and Unit-2 and 25 NCC Cadets from 9 JK Girls Battalion NCC and 10 Cadets of 1 JK Naval Unit, PSPS GCW Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The programme was conducted under the patronage of the Principal, Dr Kulvinder Kour. Major (Prof.) Shivani Sharma guided the NCC Cadets, while Dr Monika Hans and Dr Suraj Mohani Jamwal, NSS Programme Officers, guided the NSS Volunteers. The Naval Unit Cadets participated under the guidance of ANO Dr Rachna Devi.
Government Degree College (GDC) Vijaypur organized a pledge ceremony on the eve of National Voters’ Day under the banner of ‘150 Years of Vande Mataram’ to promote democratic values and electoral awareness among students. The programme was conducted under the leadership of Principal Dr. Ashu Vashisht who highlighted the significance of National Voters’ Day.
National Voters’ Day 2026 was celebrated with enthusiasm at SPPND Government Degree College, Samba, with the objective of promoting democratic values and encouraging electoral participation among youth. The programme was organized in line with this year’s theme: ‘My India, My Vote’ with the tagline ‘Citizens at the Heart of Indian Democracy’. On this occasion, Principal of the College, Prof. Nirlape Kour emphasized the significance of informed voting and ethical participation in the electoral process.
The SVEEP Cell of Government Degree College Ramnagar observed National Voters’ Day with great enthusiasm by organising a Pledge Ceremony aimed at promoting electoral awareness and strengthening democratic values among students. The event was held under the guidance of the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Bhavnaish Chand Anthal.
GDC Khour organized a pledge ceremony on Voter’s Day under the patronage of Principal Prof. Dr. T.K Sharma. The event saw active participation of staff and students, who took an oath to exercise their right to vote and promote democratic values. Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr.) T.K Sharma said that students are the future of nation, they must be aware of their rights and duties and also aware others about the same and make sure that our country pave its way towards the path of development.
Government Degree College, Ramgarh, under the SVEEP Committee and the NSS, celebrated the 16th National Voters’ Day with great enthusiasm and active participation. To mark the occasion, the College organized a series of activities including an Intra-College Quiz Competition, a National Voters’ Day pledge ceremony and installation of a Voters’ Awareness Selfie Point.
GDC Thannamandi in collaboration with the District Administration Rajouri celebrated the16th National Voters’ Day with enthusiasm. With the objective of promoting electoral awareness and democratic participation among the students, the College’s SVEEP/Electoral Literacy Club in collaboration with Department of Political Science under the guidance of the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Shamim Ahmed Azad, took a pledge to uphold democratic values, exercise their right to vote responsibly and strengthen the democratic fabric of the nation.
Zonal Police Headquarters (ZPHQ) Jammu observed National Voters’ Day (NVD) by administering NVD pledge to officers and staff, under the directions of IGP Jammu. The pledge ceremony was led by the Staff Officer to IGP Jammu, Shamsheer Hussain. Highlighting significance of this year’s theme, ‘My India, My Vote’, the SO to IGP Jammu emphasised the importance of informed, ethical and responsible voting in strengthening democratic institutions.
Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur observed National Voters’ Day in pursuance of the directions of Election Commission of India and Police Headquarters. SSP Benam Tosh, Deputy Director SKPA Udhampur administered the National Voters’ Day pledge to hundreds of Police/Prosecution officers, officials present in the grand ceremony including staff of Police Academy, DySsP probationers, PSIs and personnel of All India Commando Competition Team currently undergoing practice/training at SKPA Udhampur.
Police Technical Training Institute (PTTI) Vijaypur organized a pledge ceremony in the Institute to observe National Voters’ Day. On this occasion, Ranjit Singh Sambyal, Principal PTTI Vijaypur administered the pledge to all GOs/staff/ trainees of the Institute who took pledge to uphold the democratic traditions of our country and dignity of free, fair and peaceful elections. While speaking on the occasion, Principal PTTI Vijaypur instructed the staff and trainees to encourage, facilitate and maximize enrolment, especially for the new voters. Among others, Pawan Kumar Sharma, Vice Principal, Davinder Gupta-Dy.SP, Khuswant Singh-Dy.SP of PTTI Vijaypur were present on the occasion.
On National Voters’ Day, ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’, Udhampur will organize a Padyatra tomorrow to create awareness among the general public, especially youth, about the importance of voting and democratic participation.
