SRINAGAR, Sept 6: Advocating for unconditional dialogue to resolve the current crisis in the Kashmir valley, former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Prof Saifuddin Soz said that it was unfortunate that neither Government of India (GoI) nor the State Government had invited Hurriyat Conference (HC) to hold talks with All-Party Delegation (APD).
In a statement here this afternoon former PCC chief Prof Soz said that Home Minister Rajnath Singh has adopted a good narrative that might promote conducive atmosphere for a decision dialogue.
It is really unfortunate that neither the GoI nor the state government invited the HC to attend the APD led by Mr Singh, he said.
Prof Soz said Mr Singh’s lament that the HC leadership’s refusal to meet a section of the Parliamentary Delegation constituted negation of Kashmiriyat, may be partially true, but one thing must be clearly understood that anger in the hearts and minds of Kashmiris is so enormous that the Hurriyat, perhaps, wanted to express that anger adequately.
Otherwise, these leaders are known to be courteous in their personal behaviour, he said.
Perhaps, the Home Minister can sensitise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mind to show political acumen to devise a proper mechanism to open the door for an unconditional dialogue, he said, adding the that dialogue will take place, for, there is no other way to resolve the current crisis.
One silver lining for PM Modi is clearly visible on the horizon that around this time, the Congress Party and all other segments of the National Opposition seem to be dead-set to be part of the solution and not part of the problem, he said.
