Diabetes detection camp held on World Diabetes Day

JAMMU, Nov 15: On the occasion of world diabetes day, a free diabetes detection and HbA1C monitoring camp was held here today at Jammu Diabetes and Thyroid Care Centre, Gandhi Nagar.
Many patients were screened and their parameters were evaluated. Most of the patients had their HbA1C above the range.
Dr. Raj Kumar Sharma, senior Diabetologist discussed self monitoring of blood glucose and HbA1C with patients.
He highlighted that by controlling blood glucose to optimum levels, long term micro and macro vascular complications in the form of renal involvement, heart, brain and eye complications can be prevented.
Dr. Sharma emphasized on regular exercise and dietary restrictions along with regular intake of medicines prescribed by qualified doctor in controlling blood sugar levels.
“All patients should adhere to the instructions and medications given by the doctor and have regular follow-up to control blood sugar levels and avoid complications to live a long and healthy life,” he maintained.
