DODA, May 14: In a major relief to poor patients of chronic kidney disease, the dialysis facility will now be available at District Hospital here from tomorrow onwards catering the patients from entire Chenab valley.
The dialysis unit is being made functional under the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme.
Medical Superintendent DH Doda Dr Parveez Iqbal Wani said the National Programme aimed at setting up facilities of a dialysis centre at district hospital was envisaged by the Union Government.
“The dialysis centre will be run and managed by trained technicians and doctors along with paramedics,” said MS DH Doda Dr Wani. While patients covered under the National Health Protection Scheme and BPL category will not be charged for the facility, others will be charged for a dialysis at nominal charges.
The Dialysis Centre will be a boon to many patients of this region as they earlier have to go to Jammu, Srinagar or outside state for getting this treatment but now they can avail this facility in Doda at affordable rate.
The Medical Superintendent DH Doda also informed that patients suffering from kidney disease and requiring dialysis service have to approach DH Doda to get themselves registered so that they will avail this service at their door steps.
