Srinagar, Jan 25: The District Hospital Bandipora today performed its first-ever disimpaction surgery under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY)-Sehat scheme.
The surgery, conducted by Dr. Khalid Bashir Shah and assisted by Dental Technician Mohammad Ashraf, shows the hospital’s growing capacity to deliver advanced medical procedures locally, officials said.
Medical Superintendent Dr. Masrat Iqbal Wani commended the dental team for their dedication and expertise in executing the successful surgery.
“This is the first dental disimpaction surgery of its kind performed at our hospital. We are proud of our team and urge locals to utilize our enhanced healthcare services,” Dr. Wani stated.
He assured the public of the hospital’s commitment to providing accessible, high-quality medical care to the residents of Bandipora and its surrounding areas.
Patients and their attendants expressed relief and gratitude for the service, noting that such procedures previously required travel to Srinagar or private clinics, causing financial and logistical burdens.
A family member of a patient said: “This is a great initiative by the hospital authorities. Such services saves us time, money, and the inconvenience of travelling long distances.”
Officials said that the successful procedure has been widely lauded by the local community, who have praised the efforts of the hospital administration in introducing advanced healthcare services.
Many locals expressed optimism that the hospital’s expanding capabilities will reduce dependency on private clinics and urban hospitals.
The administration at DH Bandipora has urged the public to rely on their services, emphasizing their ability to handle a wide range of medical and dental procedures.
It is pertinent to mention that the Dental Unit of District Hospital Bandipora operates round the clock.
