SRINAGAR, Jan 21 The Director General of Police, Nalin Prabhat, today stressed for heightened alertness, foolproof security planning, intensified area domination and robust intelligence-based operations to ensure peaceful and incident-free Republic Day celebrations.
A statement issued here by the Police said that the DGP stressed this during a comprehensive Security Review Meeting at the Conference Hall, District Police Office (DPO), Shopian. The meeting was held to assess the prevailing security scenario and review operational preparedness ahead of Republic Day.
The meeting was attended by Special DGP Coordination S.J.M. Gillani, IGP Kashmir Zone V.K. Birdi, DIG South Kashmir Range Javaid Iqbal Matoo, SSP Shopian Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary, along with Gazetted Officers, SHOs of Shopian district Police.
During the meeting, the DGP conducted a detailed review of law and order management, counter-terrorism preparedness, crime control measures and security arrangements for the forthcoming Republic Day celebrations.
Prabhat emphasized the need for heightened alertness, foolproof security planning, intensified area domination and robust intelligence-based operations to ensure peaceful and incident-free celebrations across the district.
Addressing the officers, the DGP issued clear directions to deal firmly and decisively with anti-national elements posing a threat to public safety, peace and tranquility.
Prabhat reiterated zero tolerance towards activities inimical to national security and stressed the importance of sustained operations against such elements and also urged officers to maintain a people-friendly policing approach while continuing to work with dedication, professionalism and commitment to uphold the rule of law and ensure a secure environment for the citizens of Shopian.
