DGP reviews prevailing situation in Handwara, Kupwara

SRINAGAR, Feb 27: Director General of Police (DGP) J&K, Nalin Prabhat, today chaired a joint security review meeting to assess the prevailing situation and operational preparedness in Police District Handwara and District Kupwara.
Senior officers including Special DG Coordination, SJM Geelani, IGP Kashmir, VK Birdi, and DIG North Kashmir Range, Maqsood-ul-Zaman, were present.
The meeting was also attended by SSP Handwara Sahil Sarangal, SSP Kupwara Al-Tahir Geelani, Additional SPs, SDPOs, DySP Operations, SHOs and other officers of both districts.
During the meeting, the SSP Handwara and SSP Kupwara briefed the DGP about the current security scenario, counter-terror operations, anti-narcotics drives, steps to curb terror funding and area domination plans.
Border security, surveillance systems and overall operational grid were also reviewed.
The DGP stressed the need for proactive and intelligence-based operations to neutralise terrorist threats and dismantle their support network.
He directed officers to take strict action against elements involved in aiding or facilitating terror activities and called for sustained operations against Pakistani terrorists.
He also emphasised strengthening human intelligence and technical surveillance, and ensuring close coordination among Police, Army, CAPFs and other agencies.
The DGP appreciated the efforts of Handwara and Kupwara Police and asked officers to remain alert and committed to maintaining peace and security in the region.
