JAMMU, Nov 3: Lt Gen Suresh Sharma, DG Border Roads (DGBR) today visited Project Beacon and Project Sampark areas especially Bhaderwah-Bani-Basohli Road which is under construction/improvement to NHDL specifications and will provide alternate road connectivity from Punjab to Kashmir valley through Bhaderwah and Doda.
He also visited Chattergala Pass with the aim of checking the feasibility of construction of a tunnel for providing all weather connectivity. During the visit, the DGBR emphasized on the need to expedite the progress of work while maintaining the high quality of work with laid down norms and standards.
The DGBR took stock of the situation and discussed various issues with the Chief Engineers of Project Beacon and Project Sampark. The DGBR conveyed his satisfaction with regard to the progress of work and encouraged all stake holders to contribute their best in the interest of the work and its early completion.
He conveyed that there was an urgent need to upgrade and adopt better technology and newer materials in the works undertaken by the Border Roads so as to keep pace with the modernization and to save time and speed up progress. He also met the local Formation Commanders, various District authorities and the village heads en route.
DGBR also visited Western Base Workshop and Western Store Depot which look after the base repairs and stores requirement of all BRO Projects in the Western Region.
