DG BSF visits shelling-hit areas in Poonch, reviews security

JAMMU, May 29: Ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit, Border Security Force (BSF) Director General Daljit Singh Chaudhary visited the shelling-hit areas of Poonch district today and reviewed the prevailing security situation.

Chaudhary visited Poonch to assess the impact of the recent Pakistani shelling.
Flanked by senior police officers, the DG visited the shelling-hit Gurdwara Singh Sabha and Geeta Bhawan, and inspected the damage caused to religious places and civilian areas.
He also interacted with the BSF troops and reviewed the ground situation following Operation Sindoor.

Chaudhary reviewed arrangements for the Home Minister’s visit to Poonch which is scheduled to take place tomorrow.
Shah will address the BSF soldiers at their Unit Headquarters at Khanetar, about nine kilometers from Poonch during his visit to the border district.
He will also visit damaged religious places and hold a meeting with officers to assess the damage in the worst-hit district.
He will address the civilians affected by Pakistani shelling at Dak Bungalow in Poonch. He is likely to distribute appointment letters among the next of kin of civilians killed in the shelling.
