JAMMU, Oct 3: On the first day of Navratri, Dogra Front & Shiv Sena (DF&SS) here today took out the Charri Yatra from Tawi Bridge to the Cave Shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi.
The Yatra was led by Ashok Gupta who has initiated this practice 45 years back.
The procession started from Maharaja Hari Singh Statue and concluded at Brigadier Rajinder Singh Chowk, from where DF&SS workers boarded buses for Katra.
The auspicious ‘Jyot’ (lamp) was carried on shoulders of the volunteers along with Silver Charri and the pious ‘Jyot’ will be lighted from that of the deity at the old cave of the shrine and then it will be brought back to Jammu to be placed at the temple of Yadho Ram Ji in Rani Park.
DF&SS president, Ashok Gupta has appealed to the people of Jammu to visit the temple of Yadho Ram Ji to pay obeisance to the ‘Jyot’.
He further stated that he will pray for peace and prosperity of all the citizens of J&K at the shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi.
Narinder Tangari, Abhishek, Ashish, Ashu, Sushil, Fauji, Geeta, Sunil, Mohan, Nirmal and others also accompanied the Charri Yatra.
